How to find a job: The number one mistake job seekers make (Part 7)

Amy from Snagajob talks about how to find a job and the number one mistake job seekers make on job applications and resumes. Hi, I’m Amy. I work at Snagajob and today we’re going to talk about how to find a job. Specifically, we’re going to talk about the number one error that you see on resumes and applications. I’ve made this mistake and every single resume I’ve ever checked, or application I’ve ever helped someone fill out, has had the same problem. It’s great to catch. Spelling errors and typos are the number one mistake recruiters report to us they see and other job seekers have told us they make it, and it can absolutely keep you from getting hired. Professional recruiters we work with confirm that a lot of times applications with spelling errors and typos wind up in the trash. That can sound pretty harsh, especially if you’ve been filling out a lot of applications, it’s easy to get tired and make mistakes. Sometimes the job doesn’t even have to do with spelling, so why do employers care so much about whether or not you’ve made a typo on your resume or application? Choosing not to spell check your application or resume shows the recruiter that you’re just not as interested in the job as somebody who has taken the time to edit and spell check carefully. Editing your resume doesn’t just catch things like typos. It also catches when you misspell your email address or insert your best friend’s phone number instead of your own because you’re more used to writing it down

The Fall of The Berlin Wall

**Dont mind the spelling mistakes this video was used to accompany me in a speach, this is part of my notes THE BERLIN WALL Erected on August 13, 1961 by the communist regime in East Germany. It cut right through the heart of the city, amputating vital traffic links and separating families and friends. Minefields and border police had orders to shot to death anyone who attempted top cross the wall, mainly East Germans lookng for a better future in the West. While the communists tightened their grip on peoples lives in East Berlin, the western part of the city became a walled-in outpost of freedom and democracy. 28 years past and in1989, the world watched in amazement as jubilant crowds gathered on both sides of the Berlin Wall around midnight to celebrate the opening of the border crossings between the eastern and western parts of the city. A peaceful revolution in East Germany had finally cracked this grim symbol of Cold War and political oppression. It signaled the beginning of the end of Germanys postwar division and national unity came less than a year later on October 3, 1990. None of this would have ever seemed possible just a month before, it all started in october of the same year when a member of the politburo, accidently announced that east germans would now be allowed to travel. within the hour hundreds of people approached the gates to see for themselves, when they were not allowed to leave , the people for the first time in over 50 years freely protested
