Whose or who’s? Which one to use??
Today’s video tip
Such a common problem which can be solved if you start to understand why the apostrophe is used – and now you’ll find it easy!
Simple sentences to help – use WHOSE when you can’t say “WHO IS/HAS/WAS” INSTEAD:
- “Whose views cover whose news? Which newscaster gave which information?”
- “Whose blues album is this?”
- “Whose going to be home for dinner tonight?”
- “I did ask whose leftovers were in the fridge – but no-one replied, so I threw them out!”
Got any Questions? Let me know

Hi Jackson,
Nice to hear from you again!
So now you know that ‘Whose who’ is wrong, and it should be ‘Who’s Who’.
As for no question mark, it could easily be a statement OR a question, so a question mark isn’t compulsory.
This is the correct statement from your three examples:
3. “Who’s who on the Titanic’s List of Passengers…”
Remember to say ALL the words including the missing bits, so it is actually:
3. “Who -IS- who on the Titanic’s List of Passengers…”

Hope this helps,
Cheers
